Treading the boards in local productions

STORY

If you’re wondering where you might have seen my face before, it’s probably onstage at the Gaiety. Looking back over my theatre ‘credits’ - there is quite a list! See some of the highlights below.

In 2025 I directed Calendar Girls at the Gaiety Theatre

I’ve been performing for as long as I can remember. As a kid I was always singing around the house. I take after both my grandads and my mum, in that way.

My first taste of drama club was at Fairfield Junior School in 1998, and I was hooked straight away.

At Ballakermeen High School, where the arts were always championed by former headteacher Adrienne Burnett, drama quickly became my favourite lesson, and being in the school show became the thing I looked forward to most.

Through my teen years I took place in all the school productions, sang in carol concerts and competed in the Manx Music Festival (“The Guild”).

Outside of school, I found my way into the Island’s local theatre scene, starting with Theatrix Theatre Company and the Manx National Youth Theatre, then training at Stage One Drama School.

I’ve been a member of the Douglas Choral Union since 2008 and performed in a number of their shows, including as Joly in Les Misérables and LeFou in Beauty and the Beast.

During university, I came home during the summers to perform with Taylorian Productions, appearing in the ensemble of shows like Evita and Sunset Boulevard.

In the early 2010s, acting took me off-island to Barcelona, Scotland, a UK Tour and then London. I kept performing in plays and musicals ‘down South’, and also went behind the scenes as Director.

Since returning home in 2020, I’ve been lucky enough to rejoin the local theatre scene again. In recent years, you might have seen me as:

  • Joe Pesci in Jersey Boys with Two Feathers

  • Gratiano in Merchant of Venice with Parodos Theatre

  • Harry in Kinky Boots with Taylorian Productions

  • Doug in Elegies with Stage Door Entertainment

  • Frederic in Hunchback of Notre Dame with the Douglas Choral Union

In 2025, I also had the pleasure of directing Calendar Girls the musical during the TT holidays. Stage Door Entertainment raised over £46,000 for the Big Manx Community Charity which supports Island residents in need. I’m really proud of what the cast, crew, and audiences made possible.

I encourage you to support our local theatre groups and, if you fancy it, even get involved!
